In some ways, working remotely is nothing new for us. While this will be the first time in our twelve-year history that we’ve been fully remote, we’re used to working collaboratively when in different locations. We have offices in Dallas as well as in Austin, and have always had some fully-remote employees. We also offer our employees a flexible work-from-home-as-needed policy that enables them to meet their personal needs as well as our company needs.
Social responsibility and working for the collective good have always been foundations of our efforts here at KaiNexus; I think that anyone passionate about continuous improvement has the inclination to improve the lives of others. We consider ourselves fortunate to be able to make this decision while still providing the same excellent level of service to our customers. It’s what’s best for our employees and it’s what’s best for preventing the spread of COVID-19 in our communities
Social distancing is the most effective way of preventing the spread of COVID-19. At this point, the primary goal of society should be to flatten the curve of the virus’ spread in order to limit the strain on our already-stretched healthcare system. Whether you’re able to work from home or not, all of us should:
To that last point - my wife is an ER doctor, and I still practice a few days a month, so I can’t resist this opportunity to remind you that if you’re otherwise young and healthy, stay home unless you’re experiencing severe symptoms. Self-quarantining until you’re well, or until your symptoms are severe enough that you actually need medical intervention, saves our limited healthcare resources for those in dire need (ie you are having difficulty breathing, not just body aches). Additionally, there will be people that are seeking care for other non-corona viral illnesses and limiting their exposure to the virus is a great way to help people.
Many of our customers are on the front lines of developing tests, vaccines, and anti-viral medications, in addition to serving the patients that need testing and care. We feel honored to support those customers and their improvement efforts during this time, and our hearts go out to them as they work to protect us all through this crisis.
KaiNexus will continue to monitor this situation and take the steps we feel are necessary to protect our employees, our customers, our friends and families, and society at large. We would ask that you all do the same and ask that everyone please remember to wash your hands regularly, refrain from touching your face, and stay home when you can. We're in this together, and we'll get through this together too.
