Introduction

One powerful new feature in KaiNexus that can help you in the pursuit of continuous improvement is The Habits Calendar! In this blog, we will explore the significance of this new feature and how it can be harnessed to drive deeper adoption of CI in your organization.

The Power of Habits

You've heard us talk about the connection between habit science and continuous improvement for some time now (if you haven't checked out our Habits Webinar Series, find it here!). So by now you know building and sustaining the right habits at each level of the organization is the key to a thriving CI culture. Habits shape behaviors, influence decisions, and ultimately determine outcomes. By consciously cultivating positive habits, you can create a foundation for success, allowing you to achieve your goals more effectively and sustainably.

The Habits Calendar

That is why we created The Habits Calendar!  This new feature will help you monitor how often you (and others, with the right permissions) complete essential behaviors and actions in KaiNexus needed to push your improvement culture forward. The Habit Calendar tracks six key actions necessary to create the baseline habit of KaiNexus:

  • Sign In: You perform this habit when you sign in to KaiNexus.

  • Used System: You perform this habit when you have performed at least one action in KaiNexus that generates an Item Timeline entry. (For example, "Used System" could be submitting an Item, editing a description, completing a Milestone, or editing an Item Team.)

  • Cleared a Notification: You perform this habit when you clear at least one notification.

  • Cleared All Notifications: You perform this habit when you clear all of your notifications and have an empty Notifications Window.

  • Commented on an Item: You perform this habit when you post or reply to a Comment, Update, or Note.

  • Liked/Acknowledged an Item: You perform this habit when you Like or Acknowledge at least one Item.

This feature provides a visual representation of progress and serves as a powerful reminder of your commitment to improvement.

Creating a Culture of Continuous Improvement

Using The Habit Calendar will help to engrain CI into the fabric of your employees' daily routines. Let's dive into a few ways this new feature can help you better engage individuals in KaiNexus:

  1. Promote Accountability and Transparency: The visual nature of The Habits Calendar promotes accountability. When individuals and teams know that their progress is visible, they are more likely to stay committed to their goals.

  2. Highlight Recognition and Celebration: As a CI Leader, The Habits Calendar will help you gain insight into the habits individuals are creating, making it easy to celebrate these accomplishments. Recognizing achievements reinforces the value of continuous improvement and motivates individuals to strive for even greater success. Make sure you have your Universal Badges turned on for extra recognition!

  3. Encourage Consistency and Routine: The Habit Calendar helps you allocate specific time slots for your chosen habits, creating a structured routine. Integrating these habits into your daily or weekly schedule makes you more likely to stick with them in the long run. This consistency is key to habit formation and ultimately leads to sustainable positive changes.

Conclusion

Incorporating the use of The Habits Calendar into your routine can be a game-changer in the pursuit of continuous improvement. By harnessing the power of habits, we create a solid foundation for growth, innovation, and success.
